Edmund Bourke

Edmund Bourke
Edmund Bourke (1761 - 1821), dansk diplomat, født på St Croix, død i Paris, var af irsk byrd og arvede en stor formue efter sin far, som var plantageejer. Han blev 1789 Chargé d'affaires og 1790-92 sendemand ved det polske hof; sendtes derefter til Neapel, 1797 til Stockholm og 1801 til Madrid. Under et ophold i Danmark brugtes han 1814 som fredsforhandler i Kiel og viste under disse vanskelige forhold stor dygtighed. Han blev derefter sendemand i London og 1820 i Paris. 1814 var Bourke ophøjet til geheimekonferensraad og 1819 til lensgreve.
